Pukyong National University(PKNU) is one of the most prestigious national universities in Korea. PKNU was founded in 1996 after Pusan National University of Fisheries(est.1941) and Pusan National University of Technology(est.1924) merged. Having more than 30,000 students, PKNU is one of the ten large-scale national universities in Korea. The university has developed partnerships with over 290 universities and  institutions from around the world. More than 1,000 international students from 60 different countries  are currently enrolled in undergraduate and graduate courses.

2018 International Summer School

Time Spent at an institution overseas is a stimulating and exciting opportunity. International Summer School of Pukyong National University(PKNU-ISS) offers students opportunities to experience Korean culture and to understand the people better. International students will also have an opportunity to make new friends from all around the world as well as from PKNU. Aside from Korean culture, you will also be able to learn global current affairs by discussing and sharing ideas with both Korean students and other international students.

Korean Language

This is an elementary Korean language course designed for those who have no prior (or very limited) knowledge in Korean. The course goal is to provide a basic foundation that will enable students to acquire and develop language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Korean. Throughout the process of learning these skills, emphasis will be on the student's ability to perform in real-life situations through task-based practice.

Korean Culture

This is an introductory course designed to introduce students to important elements of Korean culture. This course aims to identify a unique pattern of cultural construction of Korea in the major aspects of Korea's pre-modern and modern language and life. Various multimedia materials will be used in conjunction with lectures and class discussions to promote students' understanding of the basics of Korean culture.

Introduction to Sailing Yacht

This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of basic concepts in sailing. Students who successfully complete this course should be able to achieve knowledge of different types of knots and boats, and parts of a yacht as well as the history and theory of sailing. This course consists of lectures (1st week) and practical traning (2nd-3rd week).

Understanding of International Relations

This is an introductory course on International Relations theories and methods. This course provides an overview of the activities, participants, and politics involved in International Relations at the state and local levels. By the end of the course, students should be conversant in basic IR theory and have the intellectual equipment to understand, criticize, and apply these (and other) theories of international relations. The course is also designed to provide students with an understanding of the potential and limitations of theory in the study of international politics.
